Verification of snowstorm!

Posted by Renato on January 21, 2012 at 1:30 PM

Hello everyone,

It was not like the blizzards we had last year, but still a good storm for most through out the area. Let's see how I compared to my forecast map:

Forecasted Map

Dark Blue: 6-8" (higher in elevations)

Lighter Blue: 4-6"

Light Blue: 2-4"

Light Green: Coating-1" due to mixing with sleet, freezing rain and rain

Dark Green: Snow to start but no accumulation likely as rain quickly changes over

Verification Map

From my friend Garrett Bastardi at First Hand Weather (http://www.facebook.com/firsthandweather)

My call was pretty much spot on, a little bit less snow around the NYC metro area, but I also got the 6-8" for NW NJ. Around here we got 3-4", so I did verify on the low end.

It wasn't a bad call, maybe I should have lessened the totals around NYC metro to 2-4", but overall I feel like I did pretty decent.
