Today- Rain to arrive after lunch time for most of us in the area, with it continuing into the nightime hours. High expected to be at 53 degrees with a low at 42 degrees. About an half an inch to three quarters of an inch of rain expected.
Tomorrow- The sun is expected to come back after a poor performance on Monday. It will be windy though as winds are going to be increasing to 10-15mph with gusts up to 25mph! High of 52 degrees with a low of 32 degrees.
Wednesday- Another windy day as well for your mid-week but again the sun is here! High around 42 degrees with a low of 30 degrees.
There might be another storm for your weekend so I will keep an eye out for that!
Have a great day everyone!

Hello everyone,
It was not like the blizzards we had last year, but still a good storm for most through out the area. Let's see how I compared to my forecast map:
Forecasted Map

Dark Blue: 6-8" (higher in elevations)
Lighter Blue: 4-6"
Light Blue: 2-4"
Light Green: Coating-1" due to mixing with sleet, freezing rain and rain
Dark Green: Snow to start but no accumulation likely as rain quickly changes over
Verification Map

From my friend Garrett Bastardi at First Hand Weather (http://www.facebook.com/firsthandweather)
My call was pretty much spot on, a little bit less snow around the NYC metro area, but I also got the 6-8" for NW NJ. Around here we got 3-4", so I did verify on the low end.
It wasn't a bad call, maybe I should have lessened the totals around NYC metro to 2-4", but overall I feel like I did pretty decent.
WHAT DO YOU THINK? Comment below to voice your opinion!
New 3 day forecast to come out tomorrow!

"Storm Alert 2008" Music produced by The Weather channel. Upload by VercittiGangBoy via Youtube.
Well with that music playing, we all know what time it is. Yes, finally we will get some snow but just how much?
Before we get to the totals, I will mention the timing of this storm. I see most of the precipitation occuring during the overnight hours on Friday into your morning commute for Saturday. I can also see the heaviest of snow occuring from 2-4AM, depending on where are you in the state.
This storm is not your typical nor-easter, as it will have a Southwest-Northeast type of flow instead of a Southeast-Northwest type of flow. That could allow more precipitation for parts of Southern New Jersey instead of further North.
However the temperatures will be an issue for some parts of the region, mainly Southern New Jersey, due to temperatures staying above freezing for some parts of the storm. That will cut down on accumulations down there.
As of now, I'm thinking the big winners of this storm is Northwest New Jersey, but still in doubt depending on where the storm actually tracks. I will keep an eye on that tomorrow so stay tuned for that!
Here is my forecast map below:

Dark Blue=6-8" (higher in high elevations)
Lighter Blue= 4-6"
Lightest Blue= 2-4"
Green= 1-2" (more or less depending on temperatures)
Now, here is your 3 day forecast!
Friday- Clouds start to roll in for your weekend as the snow starts approaching our area overnight. Be advised to take your winter gear out as well as we will only reach a high of 34 degreees with a low of 24 degrees.
Saturday- Snow, snow and more snow! Snow will be impacting us through out the morning so please don't be on the roads unless you really have to! Conditions will gradually improve through out the day so your weekend plans won't be cancelled. Our high will be at 36 degrees while our low will be a frigid 22 degrees.
Sunday- We might actually save the weekend with the NFC Championship Game! Even though they could see some rain over in the Bay area, we will be seeing some sunshine before another storm approaches late Sunday into our day Monday. I will keep an eye out for that storm as it might affect our Monday morning commute! The high will reach 40 degrees while our low will be at 38 so not alot of difference there!

Hey everyone,
Sorry for not updating recently but I have sought out new ideas for the blog and one will be our 3 day forecast as I give you a look into the next 72 hours. I will have more thoughts on the next storm system that might impact the area this weekend soon but for now, here is my forecast! (All degrees in Fahrenheit)
Tuesday- Be prepared for a rainy day out there! Carry your umbrellas and rainboots as this warm front comes into town. There also might be some fog for your morning commute so be prepared for that as well. High of 45 degrees with a low reaching 34 degrees.
Wednesday- Skies start to clear up for the middle of your work week as colder temperatures start to arrive to continue our recent cold streak. High reaching 42 degrees and our low at 34 degrees.
Thursday- As we approach the end of the week, the coldness continues so once again bring out that winter jacket! We might start feeling an impact of a storm towards the overnight hours but as of now, we do not expect much out of it. However, we will keep an eye on it! Expected high of 33 degrees and a low of 20 degrees.

Temperatures through out Northern NJ right are in the upper 40s-low 50s and still getting colder. At EWR (Newark Airport) temperature is at 48, which is 4 degrees cooler than what the NAM had projected at 12z. I believe that the temperatures will continue to decrease and there is a possibility that we will see more frozen precipitation out of it. I believe you guys up in NW NJ will see similar results to what happened in the October snowstorm, with alot of heavy wet snow especially in the higher elevations.
For us here in the NYC metro area, I think we are going to be just on the fringe of the big time heavy snow but I would not be surprised to see a couple of inches (with more locally) of heavy wet snow as dynamic cooling takes place from the low "bombing" out offshore.
Most of this will be rain but I think the dynamics of this storm + the cooler temperatures will allow probably a 6 hr timeperiod for some heavy wet snow. Any sooner though, and my numbers might have to extend a bit. But, I will keep you updated as always.
Here is my call:

Dark Blue= Starts off as rain, then changeover occurs before anyone else. Heaviest period of frozen precip around midnight-3AM. 3-6" with locally more
Light Blue= Also starts off as rain, majority rain, but changeover occurs as the storm moves away giving the area 1-3" with locally more.
Lightest Blue= Mostly rain but a coating to an inch possible.
Dark Green= All rain, close to 2" of it. Flooding potential is there so be on alert for those who live in flood-prone areas.
